Jaden and Ava turn three

Wow, it seems like an eternity ago that we brought them home as newborns, but it also seems like yesterday. It's a challenging but really fun age.

The big gift this year is their new bikes. Now everyone in the fam has a bike except mom. We'll have to see what we can do about that.

We invited the other staff families, the childcare gals, and other friends to the 10 a.m. gathering (nothing like cake and ice cream in the morning) and much fun was had by all....with the obligatory meltdowns you'd expect from any party for small children, of course.

Jaden loved the little cars he received, and really took to the toy binoculars as well. Ava got her own set of Polly Pocket mini cars and was into her new necklace, too. Big sis Mya was true to form and was great with the whole day. She is like me, in that events/occasions are a big deal to her and she wants them to be memorable. So she relished the role of my helper....decorating the apartment, decorating the cake, putting the craft supplies out, etc. And the best part is that she was really able to celebrate their birthday and be happy for them to receive gifts, etc. without becoming sad that the day wasn't about her. So great!

I feel accomplished that Ava and Jaden are 3...something about that age that brings a sense of accomplishment for me. Maybe it's because we're past potty training and they can do more things for themselves? In any case, I'm so thankful to God for giving them to me and for the fact that they are healthy, beautiful and hilarious.

  1. I suppose it's remotely possible that I could be just slightly prejudiced . . . but anyone can see that these are two of the cutest kids in the universe!! Can't wait to see pics of them on their new bikes.

It's always so nice to hear how sweet Mya is to the babies . . .
