It's August. We're embarking on another school year at U of I and I can already feel all the craziness. After Ocean City we ventured onto NH (to visit Judy & her family!) and Bar Harbor, ME/Acadia Natl. Park. It's so beautiful up there...I need to post some vacation pictures soon!
Then we had the 22 hours of drive time to get home to Illinois for 36 hours just to do loads of laundry and repack. The kids got dropped off at my parents in Indy and Scott and I were off to our biennial national staff conference in Ft. Collins, CO. Nine days without our kids! I experienced a mixed bag of emotions: it was so fun to do things we normally wouldn't get to do yet I missed them so much. We went to a movie, we ran together, went out for meals with friends often, hiked in Poudre Canyon, and oh yeah, we actually went to the conference sessions together! But as the week went on, my arms felt too empty and I needed to hug my kids. It was a happy reunion.
Been back in Illinois since July 31 and it has been so great to just be home. My mom and sis were here for a week and that was a sweet time before the frenzy begins. Our staff gather tomorrow for a 3 night retreat to kick off the school year...and that officially gets us going for our ninth school year of directing at U of I. So I'm gearing up again and I'm sure many adventures await us.
